Dave Chandler

Assistant Vice President of District Cash Support, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

Dave Chandler is Assistant Vice President of District Cash Support for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Dave’s responsibilities include oversight for the Bank’s cash operations support infrastructure, including compliance, budget, strategy, and workforce dynamics; business continuity; business process improvement; communications; data analytics and innovation; outreach; and training. Dave also represents the Bank on a Federal Reserve System workgroup focused on business resilience in the cash supply chain.

Chandler embraces workforce innovation and sponsored the launch of the data analytics and innovation team’s artificial intelligence unit, transforming central Bank cash vault inventory planning to meet the needs of our contemporary economy. His business area is a popular destination for analysts seeking valuable rotation opportunities within the organization and he delights in the fresh perspectives that each rotation brings to the team.

Following experience in private sector banking, financial services software development at Oracle and Paypal, and banking supervision at the FDIC, Chandler found his home at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in 2003 as a senior examiner. He advanced through a series of leadership roles in the Supervision and Credit business line, including simultaneous oversight of the group’s Resource Management group and Information Technology Examination group. In addition, for two years he managed the Credit Risk Management (CRM) team – perhaps best known to those outside the Bank for extending credit to financial institutions through the ‘discount window’. CRM also manages payment system risk for all 12th District financial institutions that have accounts with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Chandler’s leadership and vision for the discount window transformed how banks interact with this service, resulting in System (nation-wide) implementation of banks’ access to online discount window transactions in 2020.

Chandler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Management from Oklahoma State University. He and his husband Jeff live in San Mateo, California with their two teenage sons and two rescue dogs. Active in his community, he is a board member emeritus for his local high school foundation and can currently be found serving as president of his church board of directors and on the board of the City Lights Theater Company of San Jose, California.
