Dean Gallup

DRI International

Dean Gallup, MBCP, CCRP, CISM, CHEP, is Chair of the DRI International Glossary for Resilience, and a member of two additional DRI International committees supporting veterans outreach and public-school resiliency classes. He is also a DRI instructor, teaching business continuity and cyber resilience courses. He has over 40 years of experience in emergency management, disaster recovery and continuity planning, data center operations, governance, and security risk management.

He is a co-author of NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-34 Revision 1, Contingency Planning Guide for Federal Information Systems, and regularly speaks on Federal contingency and continuity planning. He managed the infrastructure implementation of the new Virginia Tax system. Prior to moving to Virginia, Gallup was Chief of Technical Services at the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, managing a 24/7 data center and overseeing infrastructure implementation for a state-wide automated fingerprint identification system.

Gallup has over 23 years of fire service in upstate New York as a volunteer fire chief, firefighter and commissioner. Additionally, he has volunteered for over 25 years as an EMT-Intermediate, provide advanced life support services in New York and the Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue Squad in Virginia.

He is a business resilience consultant with Virginia-based Covenant Park Integrated Initiatives, Inc, providing disaster recovery, business continuity, resilience, Continuity of Operations (COOP) and contingency planning support to the Federal government. He has worked with several agencies, including FEMA, FDIC, SEC, U.S. House of Representatives, IRS, and other federal and DoD agencies.
