Justin Vanasen, CBCP, CRMP, CMCP, PSE, is currently the Lead Emergency Management Specialist for DHS S&T headquarters. He has over 15 years of progressive experience in leading teams in the areas of continuity, emergency management, risk management, crisis communications, medical counter measures. Both developing and implementing new programs and procedures, conducting federal government compliance inspections as well as providing expertise as a consultant.

  • Develop and administering emergency management, continuity and risk management training programs.
  • Ensuring compliance of DHS S&T satellite facilities’ emergency management and continuity plans.

Vanasen’s long standing reputation of building emergency management and continuity programs from the ground up, as well as briefing executives and senior leadership on emergency and crisis situations. He is highly regarded subject matter expert in emergency management, risk management and crisis communications in both the professional and academic realms. He has completed national and international certifications such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP), Crisis Management and Communication Professional (CMCP), and Physical Security Engineer (PSE). He has undergraduate and graduate degrees in Homeland Security and Emergency Management and is currently a doctoral candidate pursuing a doctorate in Strategic Security.
